IA7: Material separation machine

The process of separation of the glass shards is primarily concerned with the goal of removal of unwanted foreign materials (dirt, metal,…) from the glass. The technology has a high perspective with the use of separation of different materials. The principle is based on photo-gates with consecutive removal of the unwanted materials. The technology works on the principle of blowing away all other materials except for glass shards from the mixture of glass and other materials.

Product advantages

Commercial solutions already exist, yet they are very expensive. Our solution has many advantages like low costs, high reliability, simplified technology and the technology is opened to implementation of various sensors.

Parameters

It is necessary to evaluate the influence of many aspects: size and a shape of the shard, shard color, speed of the material flow, length and slope of the feeder, positions of the machine and the impact of working 24/7 (especially with dirt). Optimization should be concerned with the electronic part (mostly parameters of the detection border), also main construction parts of the machine and the right timing of the air-flow.

Presently the machine operates with 95% success rate of separation

The problem of recycling is nowadays great concern and business for many parties. This state is given by the pressure of the public, the state of the planet and the need for raw resources. Recycling solves many problems and is a cheap source of resources. This fact is being presented by the glass segment of the market

The system is primarily designed to be used for shard separation. With additional sensors and calibration, we can calculate the use in similar parts of the recycling industry.
