Science that changes the world

doc. Ing. Klára Kalinová, Ph.D.

Specialisation: Nanomaterials for acoustics

...

Klára designed a technological solution for an acoustic system based on the synergy of a cavity and membrane resonator made of nanofibers. This principle is protected by a university patent.

Thanks to her studies at a secondary school of arts and crafts, her unfinished studies in architecture, her degree in textile technologies with a focus on the development of acoustic materials, and her work at the Faculty of Mechatronics in the field of Applied Sciences in Engineering, she is able to combine both artistic and technical requirements for the design of new acoustic elements. Sound-absorbing materials are not always hidden in technical equipment, so it is desirable to create a unique design, perhaps even with a lighting function.

In addition to his academic career, he has spent many years designing and modeling small buildings, interiors, furniture sets, and technical elements, such as a solar bench for charging electric bikes. She considers both creative activities with a unique intersection—acoustic systems and architectural studies—primarily as her hobbies.

Key projects and achievements:
  • Researcher for several Czech grants from GAČR, TAČR, and MPO.
  • Evaluator of projects and publications for TAČR, Georgia National Science Foundation, Journal of Natural Fibers, and Dove Medical Press journals.
  • License agreement for patent PV 2013-34 304656
  • 17 publications with 142 citations in the WoS database

Project and innovation proposals:

Development of innovative solitary acoustic elements with implemented nanofiber structures

klara.kalinova@tul.cz

Description: The project led by the CXI TUL team focused on the development of fundamentally new solitary acoustic elements for solving spatial acoustics. It involves the comprehensive design and optimization of parameters for five new types of acoustic lighting. The results of this work are implemented in the projects of the acoustic company AVETON with the aim of ensuring the full acoustic functionality of spaces with regard to their unique design.
