How can nanomaterials help with women's reproductive health? Gynecological applications of nanofiber drug delivery systems are the main topic of research by Karolína Morávková, a reproductive biotechnology engineer and doctoral student at FM TUL.

Reproductive biotechnology has accompanied me throughout my academic career, from topics such as hormonal stimulation and sperm-egg communication to the storage of insemination doses for farm animals. After studying at the Faculty of Science of Charles University and the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, I now have the opportunity to work on the development of nanomaterials for gynecological applications at CXI TUL. This research combines our knowledge of the female reproductive system with the latest materials, opening up new possibilities for the prevention and treatment of many diseases. The growing interest in women's health research and the development of the so-called FemTech industry focuses on a wide range of topics, all aimed at improving the quality of life for women around the world.

Scientific work is fascinating but also demanding, especially when combined with caring for small children. However, thanks to the support of my family, I have the opportunity to take advantage of many unique opportunities that my work offers me—for example, I was able to spend five months on an internship at the University of Novara in Italy with my husband and children. My goal, in addition to completing my doctoral studies, is primarily to develop new directions in gynecological research using the latest technologies.
