Greetings from the Director of CXI

19. 2. 2022

Greetings to colleagues from Miroslav Černík, Director of the Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovations of TUL (CXI) for 2022.

Dear colleagues,

The year 2022 started a few weeks ago, but let me pause briefly to take stock of the year 2021.

At the beginning of the year, we wished for a quieter year, for the Institute to stabilise and for the changes of the previous year to be completed. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

It has not been an easy year, not least because of the "COVID" situation, but I think we have managed it very well together.

Today we have data on the performance of the Institute and the individual departments and financially it has turned out well. Some departments are better off, the less successful ones have all the more motivation to improve this year.

We are still looking towards 2022 with a little bit of mistrust. We have a new government, we don't have a national budget, there is a new EU grant period and we don't yet have the usual project calls to which we submit our projects. Don't worry, there will be!

Personally, I also see a positive impact - many of our departments are trying to develop more cooperation with industrial partners and some are also looking at international project calls and trying to succeed in them. You all know that I have been calling for this for a long time and I am happy to do so.

What to wish for 2022? I would like us to get back to normal, to forget about home offices, quarantines, testing and cover-ups, and to meet not only at work but also outside work activities. To still feel like we love working at CXI and at TUL.

Additionally, best wishes to all of us in 2022.
