Water Resources Management in Visitor Attractions - FIT4USE Water Recirculation Technology LIFE4ZOO
|
Project annotation:
Water is one of the basic, priority and key raw materials for meeting the economic, social and environmental needs of society not only in the countries participating in the project, but throughout the EU and worldwide. Water determines the conditions for a sustainable environment and national economies worldwide now and in the future. Water is the key to life!
The main objective of the LIFE4ZOO project is to create a "circular economy" system for water use in visitor attractions such as zoos. This "circular water use" is designed for multiple water use and reuse instead of a single linear water use from supply, single use (e.g. washing system) to sewerage. The benefits of circular water use are reduced demand on primary water sources, reduced and cost-saving demand on sewer systems, and multiple synergies with improved energy and water resource use.
Circular water use will make a significant contribution to a more efficient, adaptable and resilient water system at visitor attractions such as zoos that can better cope with current and future impacts of global climate change. This project will align with the policy objectives of the EU Green Deal and others. This will be achieved through systematic development based on intensive and effective collaboration between project partners.
