Success of the MELPRO 2022 conference

The team of the Environmental Technology Department regularly participates in the "International Conference for Membrane and Electromembrane Processes" (MELPRO 2022). This year it was held from 18 to 21 September 2022 in Prague. Hadi Taghavian received the "Student Lecture Presentation Award" for his lecture presentation "Improved Air-assisted Surface Modification of PTFE Hollow Fiber Membrane via Polydopamine Incorporated Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles for Water Purification".

It was awarded as the best lecture of the conference by a panel of selected experts. In his presentation, Hadi discussed the scientific study and described the following key points:

1. Introduction of the novel strategy to surface characteristic's transformation of the PTFE (known as one of the most hydrophobic material) to become superhydrophilic.
2. Providing a higher wetting capability for PTFE HF membrane to be served in water purification application.
3. Developing the quantitative test method under dynamic contact conditions for antimicrobial activity assessment of the HF membranes.
4. Obtaining highly biofouling resistant surface modified PTFE HF membranes
