Engineering for the 21st century emphasises innovation and materials

3. 4. 2024

Competitive engineering is a key research thrust at CXI. It focuses on bringing together technologies and practices that bring innovation to industry. We offer a combination of research and development to provide innovative technologies and technological practices that support industrial production in the wider region and with national reach. Key trends include 3D technologies, autonomous systems, advanced materials, all with an emphasis on sustainability.

"We are opening the door to new technological possibilities for industrial production. We follow trends and adapt for our customers in many areas, most often in the automotive industry," says Jiří Šafka, head of direction.

Competitive Engineering consists of five departments that specialise in different areas and support the industrial activities of companies, mostly from the automotive industry. Here's an overview:

3D Technologies Department: we focus on the development and application of 3D technologies in industrial environments, processing a wide range of materials and expanding the possibilities of additive manufacturing.

Machine design department: we develop and design innovative machines and mechatronic devices, machine parts, components and sub-assemblies.

Vehicles: our focus is on research and development of powertrains with an emphasis on ecology, as well as the development of autonomous vehicles, which represent the future of transport.

Advanced Materials: we focus on materials development, analysis and testing. We investigate properties, materials, plasma coatings and progressive and hybrid materials.

Advanced Technologies Department: we are involved in the development and design of prototype injection moulding equipment, moulds, the development of new peripherals for injection moulding technology and the recycling of polymer materials.

The Mechanical Engineering research stream at CXI offers a wide range of services:

Development of materials and testing of their properties.
Plasma coatings that increase the durability and lifetime of products.
Progressive and hybrid materials that change the game.
Design of innovative mechanical and mechatronic devices.
Research and development of autonomous vehicles that revolutionise transport.
Manufacturing of special test equipment and customised vehicles.
3D printing that opens up new dimensions in manufacturing.
Topological optimization that streamlines production processes.
Product design and mould construction with precision and speed.
Optimisation of thermoplastic injection moulding for maximum efficiency.
