Project:
ADVAnced technologies for sustainable bioremediation of persistent POLutants
Registration number:SEP-210669001
Realization period:01.01. 2021 – 31.12. 2024
Leader at TUL:prof. Dr. Ing. Miroslav Černík, CSc.
The main objective of this project is to locate and remove a range of persistent pollutants in the environment using novel biotechnological methods. We envision the use of nature-based solutions that take advantage of microbial communities to transform and remove persistent pollutants resultant of industrial processes and that have not been properly treated nor disposed of. The project will specifically focus on the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH), bisphenols, heavy metals and nutrients as nitrogen and phosphorus. These pollutants are present in high concentrations in some areas of Europe and China and have presently not been tackled properly.
