Project:

Recycling of Nickle based super alloy (INCONEL® 625, 718) scraps for parts production using Additive Manufacturing

Realization period:01.04. 2024 – 31.03. 2027

Leader at TUL:Ing. Mgr. Lukáš Dvořák, Ph.D.

Main Aim of the project is to develop a process for the reduction and recycling of Nickel alloy waste (specially Inconel) by converting it into feedstock for use in different Additive Manufacturing Technologies and for production of high value parts. Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and Electron Beam Melting (EBM) and effective process for the additive production of high-quality Metallic components. Demands and pressures on the global power generation industry continue to grow, as we need more and more energy each day to propel us forward. In order for efficient power generation to take place, the machines in use (whether hydro, wind, or solar) must be able to withstand incredible pressure and forces. Inconel alloys are used in high-pressure environments to withstand strong mechanical loads due to their oxidation and corrosion resistance. Inconel alloys are also much more capable of withstanding heat than aluminium or steel, making them an ideal alloy for use in the power gen industry.
