The level of air pollution on the Polish-Czech border varies and requires constant monitoring. On both sides of the border there are high concentrations of carcinogens, which increases the risk of cancer due to breathing polluted air. Air quality monitoring carried out in both countries is selective in terms of the number of chemicals monitored and the measurement sites. The applicants propose to use a biological monitoring method using living organisms, such as mosses, as a biosensor of air pollution by the selected chemical compounds. The proposed method is inexpensive compared to conventional monitoring and can be used without limitations at many measurement sites.
