Project:
Nanofiber materials for advanced microbial monitoring and optimization of drinking water treatment processes
Registration number:TQ15000065
Realization period:01.01. 2025 – 31.12. 2026
Leader at TUL:Ing. Magda Nechanická, Ph.D.
The aim of the project is to develop an effective method for advanced microbial monitoring in individual processes of potable water treatment, based on the utilization of medically safe nanofiber materials. Nanofiber materials will be used for capturing microorganisms, which will then be analyzed through molecular-genetic methods such as next-generation sequencing combined with bioinformatic data analysis. Microbial monitoring supplemented by routinely conducted water analysis can serve as an efficient tool for operational optimization of potable water treatment processes, thus contributing to achieving higher quality of the final product and reducing the consumption of disinfectants, thereby minimizing the material intensity of potable water treatment processes as a key resource.
