Monitoring and potential reduction options of greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater treatment plants.

The project aims to monitor the selected greenhouse gases (CH4, NOx, CO2) generated during the operation of mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plants in deta. Within the project, several monitoring of the mentioned greenhouse gases will be conducted at 3 municipal wastewater treatment plants, which will differ in the arrangement of the activation process. Detailed monitoring will be followed by optimization of process parameters aiming to reduce the production of these gases while maintaining the required effluent quality. An experimental matrix of relevant operational parameters will be created, which will serve to develop effective strategies for reducing emissions of these gases. At the same time, this data will serve as a basis for preparing a predictive mathematical model.
