Technology of de-icing and mobile antiicer for tram and trolleybus trolley wires in city transport

Project addresses R&D of methods and devices for removal of icing on urban trolley traction. It will focus on active electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical principles in order to replace existing chemical and thermal methods for de-icing. The development will be focused on the use of mechanical multi-directional vibrations. The devices will be tested on the two-wire trolleybus and single-wire tram traction at selected trolleybuses and trams. The methods will be tested in depots on test sections of the lines on which a formation of ice will be simulated and its thickness measured. Simulations will take place in climatic chambers. Part of solution will also be selection of critical line segments with greater likelihood of icing for which more accurate prognosis will be made.
