Project:
Low-cost water treatment systems
Registration number:TH02030766

Leader at TUL:Mgr. Pavel Hrabák, Ph.D.
The project aims to develop an anaerobic sorption biofilter as a modular device for constructed wettlands targeted to leachate, landfill, mine and agriculture water with persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and plant protective (biocides) contamination. Effective clean-up of these waters before the release into watercourse often encounters the obstacle of infrastructure absence (access road, electricity network, professional service staff).
Constructed wettlands represent an optimal low-cost solution for such a case. The developed anaerobic sorption biofilter will serve as a passive stage for the protection of constructed wettlands with pronounced load of toxic pollutants, which would otherwise threaten the function of root cleaning in the constructed wettland.
