Project:

Nanotechnology in Agriculture: Lipid-Based Nanoparticles for Effective Agro-Chemical Delivery

Realization period:01.03. 2025 – 31.03. 2027

Leader at TUL:RNDr. Alena Ševců, Ph.D.

The agrochemicals with better aqueous solubility are ideal for delivery to target site, however, chemicals with poor solubility and permeability are not ideal candidates for such type of delivery. These drawbacks reduced the effectiveness of this system to be used in delivery of such agro-chemicals. Therefore, different kinds of nanocarriers are used to overcome these drawbacks. A variety of nanocarriers for delivery systems have been established including nanoparticles (NPs), however, lipid-based nanocarriers including solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) and nano-structured lipid carriers (NLCs) are being widely used now a days in human medicines. Various advantages of NLCs include the imperfect structure of the matrix in NLCs that helps to enhance the drug loading capacity, the presence of liquid lipids help to minimize the removal of the drug load after formulation and during the drug storage, increased encapsulation of the drug, biodegradability, compatibility, safety, sustained drug release and its stability.
