Project:

Modification of nanofibrous membranes combined with energy recovery to enhance anti-biofouling capability in wastewater treatment process

Registration number:22-06480K

Realization period:01.01. 2022 – 31.12. 2024

Leader at TUL:doc. Fatma Yalcinkaya, Ph.D. M.Sc.

An increase in water pollution and the demand for clean water and energy with the world-wide water crisis have put forward great challenges in membrane technology. Although nanofiber webs can find diverse applications in the market, there is still a lack of technology for the application in water filtration combined with energy recovery. In this project, polymeric nanofiber membranes will be prepared as suitable for wastewater filtration. The surfaces will be modified by various modification methods to enhance their fouling resistance and antibacterial properties. The prepared membranes will exhibit the great potential of the developed strategy in the fabrication of nanofibrous membranes towards environmental remediation. The novel solution in our strategy for water and energy recovery will deal with the application of a Capacitive Mixing (CapMix) system for energy recovery by mixing two solutions with a high level of gradient concentration. We propose not only water system purification but a complex solution for modern requirements including energy recovery during wastewater treatme
