Wetland+

The technology is based on the Wetland+® wetland system, which is an efficient, low-cost and low-maintenance method of landfill water treatment compared to conventional methods. The method is based on the flow of water through several reactive zones and a wetland as the final treatment unit. In addition, the system can be powered by solar batteries and can therefore be used even in remote locations without electricity. In the framework of the LIFEPOPWAT project (2020-2023), the system will be installed at two pilot sites (Hájek, Czech Republic and Jaworzno, Poland) with the aim of subsequent deployment at EU and non-EU sites. Although the system is designed for priority contaminated sites, it is also applicable to smaller contaminated sites (down-scalable).
