CXI wins the 2022 TAČR Award in the Partnership category for MATCA
9. 11. 2022
The Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation is part of a major project, the National Centre of Excellence for Materials, Advanced Technologies, Coatings and their Applications. The Technical University of Liberec is involved in 3 research packages in the NCK MATCA, which deal with the issues of production metal 3D printing and processing of composite materials. The principal investigator of TUL is Ing. Jiří Šafka, Ph.D.
For the ninth time, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic awarded prizes to the best applied research projects with high contribution to society. This year, the projects were awarded in five categories - Business, Partnership, Society, Governance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade Country for the Future Award. The sixth Czech Idea Award was decided by the public through online voting.
In the Partnership category, a project from the National Centres of Competence programme was awarded – the TN01000038 MATCA project, in which CXI is also involved. The MATCA National Centre of Competence is a collaboration of 24 partners from research organisations and companies of different focuses and enables a fast and flexible response to current market needs. The MATCA National Centre of Competence is dedicated to research on materials, advanced technologies, thin film coating and applications of the issues under investigation.
The Centre aims to accelerate the development and industrial scale-up of plasma, laser and additive technologies for the preparation, treatment and gasification of industrially useful materials. Although the individual technologies have had a number of recent successes in industrial deployment, their potential is far from being exploited. Given the breadth of this potential and the future impact on the changing economy, mastering, developing and integrating these technologies is a task of strategic importance. Sub-projects within the Centre address issues across the entire product lifecycle from production, through recovery to disposal, all with an emphasis on environmental friendliness and mineral recovery.
