On Thursday 25 May, the traditional conference was held on the occasion of the International Africa Day. One of the speakers at the Czernin Palace was Jan Kočí from CXI, who spoke on the morning panel and presented current trends in research and application of 3D printing in the context of African countries.
"At the conference we introduced the concept of the National Centre of Competence for Industrial 3D Printing and together with the centre's partners Brainhot Technologies, Scoolpt and CTU we also presented a real demonstration of experimental 3D printing from clay directly during the conference, which really impressed the ambassadors and guests. In the context of Africa, this is a traditional material that promises a suitable and meaningful use in printing simple structures, but for the final use, there is still a lot of work to be done," says Jan Koci, Head of the Systems Integration research line at CXI, about the participation.
This year's conference was titled "Innovations for Africa's Future Generations" and focused on economic and science diplomacy. Its main objective was to strengthen cooperation with African partners in the field of innovation, new technologies, science and research. This event was even more significant given that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, the predecessor of the African Union. The conference was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in cooperation with African embassies in Prague.
