CXI modernizes laboratories: NanoEnviCz III funds purchase of instruments

18. 6. 2024

The Technical University of Liberec, specifically CXI TUL, is involved in the Pro-NanoEnviCz III project. This project focuses on the modernization and expansion of research equipment, which will significantly support the potential of NanoEnviCz in research of new nanomaterials and nanotechnologies. These technologies are essential for protecting the environment and building a sustainable future. Expanding our portfolio of experimental techniques will lead to better services and maintain our high level of excellence nationally and internationally. Other prestigious institutions are involved in the project: the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, v. v. i. (coordinator), the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the CAS, v. v. i., Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the CAS, v. v. i. and Palacký University in Olomouc.

As part of ProNanoEnviCz III, CXI TUL will acquire six new instruments, including an FTIR spectrometer with FTIR microscope and FT-Raman module, a specific surface measurement device, a thermocycler for real-time measurements, a TOC analyser, an ICP-OES and an X-ray diffraction instrument. Getting funding for such high-end equipment is not easy and often a challenging process. Most of the investment goes into refurbishing old instruments that no longer meet current standards. The newly purchased instruments will expand the range of measurements for external users and improve the quality of measurements for TUL users. "Upgrading our equipment is crucial for us," says Michal Řezanka from CXI TUL. "The old instruments were often malfunctioning and did not meet current requirements for accuracy and reliability. Thanks to the new equipment, we can offer cutting-edge measurements and analyses not only to our internal but also to our external partners," he adds.
