Project annotation:
LIFEPOPWAT is a European project under the LIFE Call 2018 that supports innovative technology for the treatment of pesticide-contaminated water. The technology is based on the Wetland+® wetland system, which is an effective method for cleaning landfill water, low cost and low maintenance compared to conventional methods. The method is based on the flow of water through several reactive zones and a wetland as the final treatment unit. In addition, the system can be powered by solar batteries and can therefore be used even in remote locations without electricity. Within the project, the system will be installed at two pilot sites (Hájek, Czech Republic and Jaworzno, Poland) with the aim of subsequent use at sites in the EU and outside the EU. Although the system is designed for priority contaminated sites, it is also applicable to smaller contaminated sites (down-scalable).
