Department of Nanochemistry

The Department of Nanochemistry uses the tools of organic and inorganic chemistry for the preparation and chemical modification of nanomaterials, in particular nanoparticles and nanofibres. Due to our strong background in chemistry, we are able to synthesize almost any organic and inorganic compound and thus prepare customized functionalized nanomaterials.

Science

The research directions in the department are mainly focused on:

  • Synthesis of organic compounds.
  • Application of sol-gel method for the preparation of functionalized silica nanomaterials (particles or nanofibers).
  • Preparation of cyclodextrin functionalized nanomaterials.
  • Application of functionalized nanomaterials in tissue engineering, chemical catalysis or water purification.
