Department of 3D technologies

The Department of 3D Technologies is dedicated to research and development in the field of additive technologies. Our activities include 3D printing using the latest technologies for processing metal and polymer materials. Outside of the 3D printing process itself, we specialize in the preparation of 3D CAD data, optimizing geometry for 3D printing technologies also with respect to force loading (topological optimization). We also pay special attention to finishing operations (post-processing) in order to increase the usability of 3D printed products.

Research

The Department of 3D Technologies specializes in research and development in the areas of 3D printing of unconventional and innovative materials, thermoplastics, photo-polymers and metal printing

Research and development in the field of 3D printing of special materials:

  • Development of materials for specific applications (e.g. ceramic materials)
  • Evaluating the processability of new materials applicable to different 3D printing technologies
  • Evaluation of physical and mechanical properties of materials
  • Complex design and production of special types of 3D printers

Research and development in the field of 3D printing of thermoplastics:

  • Innovation of printing materials using FFF technology with emphasis on targeted modifications
  • Optimization of printing parameters for materials within FFF technology
  • Recycling of waste materials for thermoplastic printing from powder and string
  • Finishing operations to improve the performance of 3D printed products

Research and development in the field of 3D metal printing:

  • Developments in process parameters of SLM technology for ferrous and non-ferrous metal alloys
  • Design and modification of components for 3D printing of metals in order to increase their performance
  • Development and production of moulds with conformal cooling

Cooperation offered:

  • Custom 3D printing from thermoplastics, photo-polymers and metals
  • Custom finishing of 3D printed parts
  • Optimization of parts for 3D printing in accordance with the selected production technology
  • Topological optimization of parts depending on mechanical loading
  • Testing new materials for 3D printing
  • Prototype casting from silicones, polyurethanes and epoxies
  • Advice on choosing the right material and 3D printing technology
  • Product design consultation with regard to the chosen technology
  • Training and expertise in 3D technologies
