The Microscopy Laboratory is a support facility of the Department of Advanced Materials providing microscopy, analytical and consulting services to CxI, the faculties of the Technical University and customers from corporate entities and the general public.
The main activities of the laboratory are microscopic, local chemical and crystallographic analyses with the aim of structural characterization, phase identification, fractography and defectoscopy for the departments of the Technical University and customers from companies and the public. We cooperate with students in solving their semester, bachelor, diploma and dissertation theses. We significantly participate in teaching students of TU faculties.
We focus on the analysis of micro- and nanomaterials, composites, thin films, intermetallics, ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, polymeric materials, geopolymers, natural materials, etc. Our activities include, for example, particle size measurements, determination of particle composition, identification of material defects and causes of failure of machine parts, distribution and statistical processing of the determined results for the needs of materials research.
