Dr. Torres je vedoucím výzkumného týmu FEMTONANO, který se zaměřuje na odhalování nejsložitějších detailů syntézy a studia nanomateriálů pomocí ultrarychlého laserového záření. Kromě toho se jeho zájmy rozšiřují o možné aplikace, kde lze použít laserem syntetizované nanomateriály, jako je například katalýza, eradikace bakterií, značení buněk a čištění odpadních vod.

Doktorské studium aplikované fyziky na University Jaume I ve Španělsku ukončil v roce 2016. Od roku 2017 nastoupil do Ústavu pro nanomateriály, pokročilé technologie a inovace na Technické univerzitě v Liberci jako odborný asistent. V roce 2019/2020 absolvoval stáž ve skupině Prof. Dr.h.c. Elson Longo na Federální univerzitě v São Carlos v Brazílii.
